About the Journal of Exchanges, Clearing & Settlement

Established in 2026, the Journal of Exchanges, Clearing & Settlement (JECS) was created to help bridge the gap between academic research and market practice.

The journal publishes original research of relevance to practitioners, as well as practitioner-focused versions of academic research on exchanges and post-trade.

JECS covers the full trade and post-trade lifecycle, from trading and market structure through to clearing, settlement and custody. Its scope includes stock and securities exchanges, trading venues, clearing houses and central counterparties (CCPs), central securities depositories (CSDs), securities settlement systems and other financial market infrastructure.

It also covers research on regulation, technology, market design, risk management and developments affecting the way markets operate.

The aim is to make relevant academic research more accessible to practitioners and to encourage research that addresses practical issues facing exchanges, clearing houses and other market infrastructures.

What the Journal Publishes

JECS publishes original, unpublished research on exchanges, clearing, settlement and financial market infrastructure.

Submissions are subject to double-blind peer review. Full submission requirements, editorial policies and guidance for authors are available on the JECS website.
