The Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation Finalizes Data Transmission Integration Project

The Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation (TWSE) finalized its data transmission integration project at the end of December, 2013. The project, taking four years to completion, involved phasing out the existing ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) network previously used by brokerage firms and market data vendors and replacing it with a unified and integrated network platform that connects the entire securities and futures markets. The new platform is expected to significantly reduce costs and enhance efficiency for industry participants.

In response to the need for improved information processing quality and increased international competitiveness, Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) commissioned TWSE in December 2009 with the “Data Integration Transmission Project”. TWSE was tasked with promulgating the project among and cooperating with the Taiwan Futures Exchange (TAIFEX), the GreTai Securities Market (GTSM) and the Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation (TDCC) to integrate information systems.
