The Stock Exchange of Mauritius (SEM) launches its new website

The Stock Exchange of Mauritius (SEM) has today launched its new-look website, replacing the previous version which was launched in June 2001 to coincide with the implementation of SEM’s Automated Trading System (SEMATS). SEM’s new website is user-friendly and contains a number of new features aiming at empowering local as well as foreign investors, both retail and institutional, and assisting them in their search for stock market data and information.

The new-look website retains the best content features of the previous website while adding new content element, a completely new design and graphic display, as well as new technical web components and grouping information more efficiently. The new homepage has a modern look and feel, and the inside pages are more streamlined, showcasing SEM’s data across both the Official Market and the DEM. SEM’s new website contains a number of additional new technical features, the most salient ones which can be summed up as follows:

Charting and Interactive Research

A salient new feature of SEM’s new website is the charting of year-to-date and historical pricing data of SEM indices and all listed stocks over different time-scales: 1-month, 3-month, 1-year, 3-year, 5-year and since inception. This new charting feature, accessible from a well-defined search navigation bar at the top of the homepage or under the menu “Market Statistics”, is user-friendly, easy to understand, interactive and fun to use as a historical analysis tool for investors.

Snapshot information on all SEM’s listed issuers

Investors can research snapshot details on each and every listed company covering both SEM’s markets. The company snapshot information comprises, amongst others, nature of business, largest shareholder(s), directors, subsidiaries, associates, contact details and chairman's/CEO’s statement. This facility provides retail and institutional investors relevant information pertaining to listed companies.


SEM Online Courses


A series of self-learning Online Courses, have been designed for retail investors at large. These concise courses can be viewed online in ‘flash version’ on SEM’s new website. The courses cover the basics of understanding the sharemarket, stock market investment and portfolio management, risk management and other related stock market investment topics.


Other SEM Investor Education Services

The new website contains an investor corner box entitled “Interested in Investing on SEM” on the home page. This investor corner provides investors with information on a wide variety of investor-linked topics.

This new website fits with SEM’s overall initiative of reaching out to a wider cross-section of retail investors and is in line with SEM’s national Investor Educational Campaign, “Faire de Maurice une nation d’actionnaires: 100,000 d’içi 2013”.
