NYSE Euronext (NYX) announced the signing of a binding agreement with several leading global banks and liquidity providers — Citadel Securities, GETCO, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and UBS — to sell a significant equity interest in NYSE Liffe U.S., the U.S. futures exchange of NYSE Euronext. NYSE Euronext will remain the largest shareholder in the entity, which will bring substantial competitive and operational benefits to the marketplace.
Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME) posted a net profit of €34.9 million in the third quarter, which is the best quarterly result so far this year, excluding extraordinary items and exceeds the figures for the two previous quarters by 4.1% and 1.9% respectively, although is 17.6% down from the same quarter a year earlier. The net profit in the first nine months of the year totalled €116.2 million, down 20.1% from the same period in 2008.
The NZX Group financial results for the nine months to September 2009 were released, showing EBITDAF of $14.68 million, up 8% on the same period in 2008.

On October 29, 2009, Tokyo Stock Exchange Group, Inc. (TSE Group) and Tokyo Commodity Exchange, Inc. (TOCOM) reached an agreement to establish a joint venture in the future. The objective of the new company will be to set up an emissions trading exchange, in order to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases and facilitate emissions trading. Both parties had already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on comprehensive mutual cooperation in January 2008.
The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) announced financial results for the three months and nine months ended September 30, 2009. Total Exchange revenues for the third quarter of 2009 decreased by 17 percent to $98.4 million from $117.9 million in third-quarter 2008. Quarterly net income was $19.2 million, a decrease of 48 percent from $36.7 million for the same period in 2008. Third-quarter 2009 results reflect a challenging market recovery, making comparisons difficult with record results reported in last year's third quarter, when extraordinary market events resulted in record options trading volume.
CME Group Inc. (Nasdaq: CME) reported that third-quarter GAAP total revenues were $650 million, and GAAP operating income was $401 million from the third quarter of 2008. Third-quarter net income on a GAAP basis was $202 million and diluted earnings per share on a GAAP basis were $3.04.
