New rules of the MICEX Index calculation take effect

07/12/2011

On December 19, 2011 a new version of the Rules of the MICEX Index calculation registered by the Federal Financial Markets Service on December 6, 2011, will come into force.

The new rules imply that during the evening trading session ended at 11.50 pm the MICEX Index will be calculated based on prices generated in the Standard sector of the MICEX securities market. The Index values calculated during the evening trading will be applied on the next trading day.

The Rules also provide a unified approach to calculating free-float factors. This approach will be applied to all the Indices of the integrated exchange.  Thereupon, the free-float factors of securities employed in the calculation of the MICEX Index and capitalization indices are to be recalculated in accordance with the recommendations of the Index Committee. New weighting coefficients for the above-mentioned securities will be calculated using the securities prices as of December 14, 2011. New values of the free-float factors and the weighting coefficients will be in use from December 16, 2011.
