Istanbul Menkul Kiymetler Borsasi (IMKB) Equity Repo Market Starts Operations On December 7,2012

İstanbul Menkul Kıymetler Borsası (İMKB) Equity Repo Market will start operations on December 7, 2012.

The market will be launched under İMKB Debt Securities Market, with the aim of allowing execution of repo transactions on company shares within an organized market framework. Shares acquired through repo transactions will be delivered to the buyer for the duration of the contract.

The shares of companies that are traded on İMKB Equity Market and included in İMKB 30 Index, will be eligible to trading on the Equity Repo Market. Trades on the shares of the intermediary institutions -authorized to trade on the Market- will only be allowed on behalf of their clients, not on their portfolio account.

The orders in the Equity Repo Market will be submitted as limit orders and market orders in minimum order size and its multiples with the same day or up to two business days beginning value date. Prices of the shares will be determined by the intermediary institution submitting the order, given that the price is between the minimum-maximum price limits applicable on the Equity Market.

If for any reason, the trading at the Equity Market is suspended, transactions on the Equity Repo Market will also be suspended. Until trading on a suspended share resumes on Equity Market, repo transactions on the same share will be kept suspended.
