Australian Securities Exchange acquires energy derivatives market expert company

The Australian Securities Exchange has entered into an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares of d-cyphaTrade, an energy market expert developing and building energy derivative markets. Since 2002, d-cypha and ASX have jointly developed the electricity derivatives market in Australia. This acquisition will enable ASX to combine the sales and product innovation strengths of d-cypha with ASX’s distribution and risk management capabilities. d-cypha will be renamed as ASX’s new ASX Energy subsidiary and will assist ASX in its objective to expand its position in the energy derivatives markets.

Australian Securities Exchange undertakes entitlement offer

The Australian Securities Exchange has undertaken an entitlement offer of new ASX ordinary shares to raise gross proceeds of approximately AUD 553 m. ASX will use the proceeds to contribute AUD 200 m additional equity to ASX Clear, the clearing facility and central counterparty for all futures, options on futures and ASX listed CFDs; replace the existing AUD 250 m unsecured, non-recourse debt facility of ASX Clearing Corporation with equity capital; fund current and future growth initiatives, and support other subsidiaries of ASX.

CBOE Holdings announces new CEO

On 27 May 2013, CBOE Holdings elected Edward T. Tilly as CEO and member of the Board. Mr. Tilly is the President and Chief Operating Officer of CBOE Holdings, Chicago Board Options Exchange and C2 Options Exchange. He also serves as the Chairman of the Board of the CBOE Futures Exchange and as a member of the Board of Directors for the CBOE Stock Exchange.

NASDAQ OMX appoints new president of NASDAQ OMX Stockholm

The NASDAQ OMX Group appointed Magnus Billin as President of NASDAQ OMX Stockholm. He will assume the position as of 1 July 2013. At the same time, he will assume the position as Senior Vice President Nordic Fixed-Income and NASDAQ OMX Baltics/Armenia.

NASDAQ OMX completes acquisition of Thomson Reuters investor relations business

The NASDAQ OMX Group has completed its acquisition of Thomson Reuters Investor Relations, Public Relations and Multimedia Solutions businesses, which provide analytics and communications solutions. They will be integrated with NASDAQ OMX’s Global Technology Solutions business to create a differentiated client experience through a comprehensive portfolio of technology-driven solutions.

SIX Swiss Exchange elects board of directors Chairman

On 29 May 2013, Alexandre Zeller was elected the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of SIX at the general shareholders meeting. He succeeds Prof. Peter Gomez.
