Deutsche Börse reduces connection time for co-location clients
Since 19 December 2011, Deutsche Börse has been offering trading and market data via dedicated 10 gigabits connections to its clients at the Equinix data centre in Frankfurt. Co-location clients of both the derivatives market Eurex and the cash market Xetra can take advantage of the new service. Deutsche Börse’s new connection speed provides another significant reduction in latency times for customers by using wider bandwidths. Network latency for market data distribution via this fastest connection option has been reduced by 70%.

ISE introduces latency improvements to trading system
The International Securities Exchange implemented its latest technology release to enhance its new trading system based on Deutsche Börse Group’s Optimise trading architecture. Technology Release 2.0 introduces several features that target further latency reductions for the system. As a result, median system latency was improved by an additional 10%. The release also achieved incremental reductions in the system’s latency tail of 20%. Importantly, Release 2.0 implements the necessary technical changes for ISE to launch a latency reduction initiative in early 2012 with its member firms that connect through ISE’s Direct Trading Interface.

Johannesburg Stock Exchange selects point of presence and network provider in the UK
The Johannesburg Stock Exchange has chosen Fixnetix as the provider of the JSE’s point of presence (PoP) and network provider in the UK, giving global investors easier access to the JSEs markets. Initially, access to the JSE’s Equity Market Customer Testing Service and real time data services will be available via the JSE PoP provided by Fixnetix in the Equinix data center. The UK PoP will be extended to include trading of JSE equities and this agreement could be expanded to include access to other JSE markets. Access to the JSE Test Services will start in early 2012 with live real time data available in production when the new system is implemented in the middle of next year.
